Style Wars returns for it’s inaugural Halloween edition, Believe the Hype: 80s OGs vs. 90s New Jacks. Come dressed as your fav artist/icon from the 80s era of Hiphop (Grandmaster Flash, Kool Moe Dee, Run DMC, etc…) OR from the 90s New Jack / Golden Era (Humpty Hump, Flavor Flav, Salt n’ Pepa etc…) The culture of these eras spawned some of the most influential figures in Hip Hop and R&B music whose legacies live on to this day. Pay homage to your idols and influences, or just go overboard with a Hammer Pants / Vanilla Ice pompadour / Cross Colours mash-up! In the spirit of Style Wars, we welcome everyone, but the more creative and true-to-form your costume is, the better!
Party-goers will have the opportunity to win gift bags courtesy of Salon Blue, Che Woo Design, & 145South, presented by The Style Girls of Salon Blue. And as always, our in-demand photobooth, will be in full effect courtesy of AG Photography with the custom backdrop designed by Chicago-area artist CZR PRZ, and a full-on photoshoot set inspired by B-Boy culture. Nightlife photos by Roper (reagle-beagle.com). And be sure you’re in the building when Dance Community Chicago arrives, their impromptu performances are always the highlight of any Style Wars. Just know that if you’re gonna try and battle… you must come correct!
